ABOUT THE ZION TATTOO COMPANY
The Zion Tattoo Company opened its doors in 2016, back when tattooing in St. George looked nothing like it does today. Most studios were pushed to the outskirts of town, and the city kept tight reins on where tattooers were “allowed” to exist. If you wanted a shop in the heart of the city, you had to fight through conditional-use permits, planning and zoning meetings, and months of hearings with the mayor and city council. Honestly, it scared a lot of people off. But Matt wasn’t “a lot of people.” He showed up, stood his ground, and fought for a place where artists could work in a community that wasn’t used to seeing tattoo studios front and center. That fight is what made Zion possible.
Zion was never a shot-in-the-dark experiment. Matt had already owned a studio in Idaho where he learned every lesson he needed: what works, what doesn’t, and what truly makes a tattoo shop successful. When Zion opened, it was built with intention. Four booths, four artists, and zero filler. We keep the team small because we’d rather have a handful of artists who are talented, dependable, and genuinely love what they do than a big crowd of half-committed tattooers. Everyone here collaborates, the personalities mesh, and whoever walks through the door will have an artist who can meet their vision. Your’e going to walk out with the tattoo you’re happiest with. We make sure that our clients are happy with their tattoos for a very long time.
At Zion, the experience matters just as much as the artwork. Clients laugh, joke, and settle in like they’re hanging out with friends because they are. We care about your tattoo as much as you do. Our core values are simple: treat people fairly and respectfully, and put everything we have into every piece we create. Every tattoo that leaves our shop represents our reputation, our integrity, and the kind of art we want to put into the world. When you come in, expect a good time, honest guidance, long-lasting work, and artists who actually listen to what your goals are, especially for big projects and long-term plans.
“Dude, if you come in here you’re gonna fucking have fun. We’re gonna tell dick jokes, draw pictures on you, and you’re walking out with some really epic shit.” -Matthew Pehrson
